Try a range of traditional and contemporary art styles and explore different techniques. You choose the medium that you wish to work with: charcoal, pencil, acrylic, watercolour, pastels or oils. Our experienced tutor can teach beginners to those with previous experience. Materials list available on enrolling.
Paper Tole is an interesting paper craft, which involves cutting, shaping and gluing layers of pictures to create a delightful 3-dimensional effect. Beginners start with a fairy or flower picture then graduate to pictures of their own choice with a wide range of subjects available including birds, animals, people, houses, country scenes etc. The final result is then sent to be box-framed with several colour co-ordinated matt boards. Students will be very proud of their beautiful, finished product and many will become family heirlooms. Beginners kits are available from the tutor.
Learn to decorate your photo albums with different themes to make those special photos even more memorable. The monthly workshops, held 2nd Friday evening and 4th Sunday, are suitable for all levels. BYO materials and equipment or purchase supplies from the tutor.
Students choose and work on their own projects (whether it is embroidery, patchwork or a combination) with help and advice from the tutor. Learn patchwork techniques like piecing by hand or machine, rotary cutting of materials, applique and machine or hand quilting. Or if you prefer, embroidery techniques like applique, ribbon embroidery, wool embroidery and cross-stitch can be learnt. Combine the two and use embroidery to enhance your patchwork. For the beginner the tutor can help select a suitable design and give suggestions on colour combinations.
